Safe Kids Day at the Capitol
During the full legislative session, Safe Kids Oregon hosts Safe Kids Day at the Capitol as an opportunity to highlight the prevention of unintentional childhood injuries and deaths. Safe Kids Coalitions and child injury prevention partner organizations come from throughout the state to share information. Each session we focus on a specific injury area for our educational outreach to legislators.
Safe Kids Day at the Capitol 2013
On April 24, 2013, Safe Kids Oregon and our partners joined together in the State Capitol Galleria. The focus this year was on sports safety and concussion prevention. A packet of concussion prevention materials was provided to legislators. Each participating organization hosted a table with valuable information regarding their injury area of concern.
Participating partners included American Medical Response, Randall Children’s Hospital Child Passenger Safety Program, Legacy Emanuel Trauma Nurses Talk Tough, ODOT Transportation Safety Division, Oregon Fire Marshal’s Office, OHSU’s ThinkFirst Program, Safe Kids Portland Metro and Safe Kids Willamette Valley.
